ABOUT THE EVENT:  This is part of our PCHRA 2024 Workforce Development Learning Series. We are partnering with the ConxusNEO to provide business owners and HR  professionals information and support on programs and funding opportunities available in the manufacturing, healthcare and technology sectors.

For this event, participants can learn and earn 1 SHRM PDC.

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION:  A panel discussion on "Tackling the Digital Divide in Greater Akron for a Thriving and Inclusive Talent Pipeline." This event will focus on the divide's implications for workforce development and present actionable strategies to advance digital inclusion.

    Discussion Highlights:

    • Analyzing the Divide: We will examine the digital landscape in Greater Akron and identify the fundamental causes of disparities in access to technology and digital skills.
    • Impact on Workforce Development: Our panel will review how the digital divide affects community employment opportunities, skill-building, and economic mobility and explore how it impacts the workforce and talent pipeline.
    • Fostering Creative Collaborations: We will identify opportunities for innovative partnerships among businesses, community organizations, and academic institutions to effectively narrow the digital divide.
    • Supporting Underserved Communities: Strategies to aid underserved populations through specialized digital literacy programs and ensure more affordable internet access will be discussed.
    • Role of Employers in Digital Equity: Attendees will learn how local businesses can contribute to digital equity through inclusive employment practices, comprehensive training programs, and adaptable work environments.

This session will provide insightful discussions enriched with local data, case studies, and established best practices. There will also be the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals and to engage in shaping Akron's digitally inclusive future.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS: To be announced soon!

ABOUT THE ConxusNEO: Our role is to convene employers, educators, workforce programs, economic development, and community-based organizations to make that vision a sustainable reality.   Our work is based on the supply chain management model where workforce system strategies are innovated among partners to deliver the in-demand skills local companies need as the ultimate end-users in the supply chain.  As collaboration evolves, partners across the talent supply chain experience shared value.  Educators and workforce training programs are better able to align curriculum with in-demand skills, economic development efforts can benefit from more strategic workforce assets, and community-based organizations can leverage relationships and a variety of program partners to recruit and support residents in their job preparation efforts.
