"Legal Update: Federal and State Rules and Legislative Changes we will be Navigating in 2024"

ABOUT THE EVENT: This month we welcome Attorney Elizabeth "Liz" Crosby to talk with us about 2023 Federal, State and agency rulemaking affecting the workplace in 2024.

For this event, participants can learn and earn 1 SHRM PDC.

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: In this presentation, Liz will share prevalent federal legislative changes including OSHA record keeping and legislative acts passed in 2023 that have an impact on the workplace.  She will highlight Ohio legislative changes on issues associated with the passage of recreational marijuana, minimum wage, pay policy and unemployment benefits.  Liz will provide insight on EEOC, NLRB, DOL and OSHA rules changes and decisions made or pending in the US and Ohio Supreme Courts as well as the Sixth Circuit and Ohio Court of Appeals. She will end the presentation reviewing significant EEOC cases demonstrating its focus on cracking down on unlawful workplace practices.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:  Liz is a partner at Buckley King and has over 30 years of experience in the areas of employment law and Workers’ Compensation. She is a Board-Certified Specialist in both areas by the Ohio State Bar Association.

She represents employers/management in all areas of labor and employment law including employment counseling, preparation of handbooks, discrimination and wrongful discharge claims, wage and hour compliance, and FMLA and ADA compliance, EEO, OSHA, labor-management concerns and Davis-Bacon. In addition, she is responsible for oversight and management of workers compensation matters and unemployment claims for employers.
